The idea

What each store got on Monday, and what it sold in week 1:

Key points

The planHow much goes out now, how much is held back, and how much goes online.
Week 1Which stores sold through fastest, and which got too much.
The actionWhere the held-back stock goes next.

A launch isn't one decision. It's a plan, then a correction once week 1 shows where it sells.

Practice

Try each one in your head first, then open the answer.

1. 1,500 new speakers arrive, and 20% is held back. How many go out now?
1,500 × (1 − 0.2) = 1,200
2. Online makes 25% of speaker sales. Of the 1,200 going out, how many go to online?
1,200 × 0.25 = 300
3. The new speaker should sell 20% more than the old one. Calgary sold 15 a week of the old one. What is its weekly forecast, in units?
15 × (1 + 0.2) = 18
4. Now week 1 of the earbuds. In F2, total the units sent to all five stores.
=SUM(B2:B6)
5. In F3, total the units sold in week 1.
=SUM(C2:C6)
