The idea

Audio's stock in the stores now, and what's already on its way:

Formulas

Opening stock + On order

Key points

Opening stockWhat's on hand on the first day of the month, at retail value (you met it in Stock-to-sales). No formula: the stock system counts it.
On orderStock you've already bought that hasn't arrived yet, so it counts as yours. No formula: you read it from the order system.
Stock you haveEverything that's already yours for the month.
Read itThis month's opening stock is last month's closing stock.

Stock you have is the second half. Next level: take it away from stock needed, and that's your open-to-buy.

Practice

Try each one in your head first, then open the answer.

1. Cases ordered last week arrive on the 10th. Which column do they belong in?
On order
2. Tap the category with the most stock on order.
Cases have $15,000 of stock on its way.
3. How much stock does Audio already have for next month, in dollars?
$80,000 + $12,000 = $92,000
4. In E4, work out the stock Cases already has, in dollars.
