The idea

In-stock % shows how much of the range is available. Forecast accuracy shows how good the plan was:

Formulas

SKUs in stock ÷ SKUs ranged × 100

Key points

In-stock %SKUs in stock ÷ SKUs ranged × 100. Empty pegs lose sales.
Forecast accuracy100 − (|Actual − Forecast| ÷ Actual × 100).
BiasForecast above actual means over-buying. Below it means missed sales.

Track both weekly. Good availability with a poor forecast usually means too much stock.

Practice

Try each one in your head first, then open the answer.

1. What is the in-stock % for Cases?
32 ÷ 40 × 100 = 80%
2. In D4, work out the in-stock % for Cases: SKUs in stock ÷ SKUs ranged, as a decimal.
=C4/B4
3. What was the forecast accuracy for Audio?
Error 200 ÷ actual 800 = 25%, so accuracy = 100 − 25 = 75%
4. Tap the category losing the most sales to empty shelves.
Power banks are only 75% in stock.
