Each store's sales this week, next to the same week last year:
Formulas
( Sales − LY ) ÷ LY × 100Key points
Growth %How much sales went up or down, compared with the same period last year.
Work it outTake last year from this year, divide by last year, then multiply by 100.
Read itPositive means growth, negative means decline. Always divide by last year: it's the starting point.
Growth asks "are we better than last year?" Target asks "did we do what we planned?" A store can do one without the other.
Practice

($12,000 − $10,000) ÷ $10,000 × 100 = 20%2. What is Montreal's growth on last year?
($9,000 − $10,000) ÷ $10,000 × 100 = −10%3. In D2, work out Toronto's growth on last year, as a decimal (no × 100).
=(B2-C2)/C24. Tap the store that grew on last year but still missed its target.
