The idea

A bar chart compares things. A line shows change over time. A donut shows parts of a whole.

Key points

BarCompare categories: products, stores, regions.
LineShow change over time: days, months, years.
DonutShow parts of a whole. Only for a few slices.

To build a visual: choose its type, then drop fields into Axis (the categories) and Values (the numbers).

In Power BI Desktop

Pick a visual in the Visualizations pane, then drag fields from the Data pane into its wells: X-axis and Y-axis for bars and lines, Legend and Values for a donut.

Learn it by doing. This lesson is a short hands-on level on Bampaa: see it work, then build and write it yourself, with instant feedback.
